Reminder to you Out-of-Office folks.

I'm quite tired of receiving 10-15 Out-of-Office e-mails right after
posting to FD so here is a little reminder. FD has a setting just for
you folks going out of the office for a while. Log in and you'll
quickly find it.

"Mail delivery
Set this option to Enabled to receive messages posted to this mailing
list. Set it to Disabled if you want to stay subscribed, but don't
want mail delivered to you for a while (e.g. you're going on
vacation). If you disable mail delivery, don't forget to re-enable it
when you come back; it will not be automatically re-enabled."

Select disabled and save the change and also save the rest of us
having to delete a bunch of auto-replies. When you get back just
re-enable it. It's not that hard and it can easily be done in less
than a minute.

Thanks.

In the time it took you to type this email whining about it, you could
have gotten a good game of dueling mailbots going. It sounds like
you've got 10-15 candidates, to me.

If they're going to offer you a good time, why not accept?

Thomas, does it look like i'm whining? Or does it look like your
trying to start something. I'm leaning toward the latter. Don't be one
of the children of FD. I have already set up a filter to weed them
out. The point was people can
take a minute or two and be polite and save the rest of us the trouble.

Might I also note that some e-mail services don't allow you to create
filters so not all of us have it easy.

Thomas, does it look like i'm whining?
Is this a rhetorical question?

You just sent an email to a bunch of people that are out of the
office. And what are these people going to do when they get back in
the office? "Oh crap! I got a bunch of garbage on full-disclosure
that I'm not going to read anyways." *DELETE ALL MESSAGES*

Had you been less disingenuous, you'd have sent an email to the list
owner, and told him about the out of office replies. Better, you
might have even forwarded them to him, rather than going to the effort
of whining about it to everybody else.

Everybody knows somebody like you. You show up at a BYOB party
attended by a bunch of people you don't know, and bring nothing with
you. Many strangers notice you don't have beer with you, and kindly
say, "Here! Have one of mine, and have a good time."

You spend the entire night drinking their beer, and complaining about
how nobody drinks your brand of beer.

And we've all seen how well that works!

Cheers,
