Googling gives no significant results...

What are you trying to scan? Some tools have proxy support and some
don't. Then you can run Proxyrama, A4Proxy, SocksChain, etc, etc.

Sockscap (win32) will forward all normal tcp/udp traffic via a SOCKS5 proxy.
